What we collect, and why
When you send us a brief through this site we collect:
- your first name and email address, so we can reply
- your business name, town or area, and a website or Google link if you give one
- what you'd like help with, and your answers to the short questions that follow
- anything you add in the "anything else" box
- which part of the site you started the brief from
We use it for one thing: to reply to your brief, which means researching your business from what is publicly available, preparing the mockup or plan you asked for, and emailing you about it. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: you asked us to, and you expect a reply. We record the sentence you agreed to when you sent it.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising. We won't send you marketing messages.
Who else sees it
| Who | What they get | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Vercel | your brief in transit, and technical request data | hosting this website |
| Resend | your brief, in transit | emailing it to us |
| IONOS (IONOS Cloud Ltd) | the email copy of your brief | our business email |
Vercel and Resend are US companies and may process data in the United States. Both take part in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, including for data from the UK, and both also rely on the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses in their data processing terms.
How long we keep it
A brief that doesn't lead to working together is deleted from our inbox 12 months after we last contacted you. That gives you time to come back to us if the timing wasn't right. If you become a customer, the details move into your customer record and are kept for as long as we work together and our accounting obligations require.
Website statistics
We measure how the site is used: pages viewed, which device, roughly which country, and where visitors arrived from. Vercel Web Analytics does this without cookies and without anything being stored on your device. The figures are aggregate: they can't identify you, and we can't follow you to another website.
If you'd rather not be counted at all, email hello@sotheon.co.uk and we'll tell you how to opt out.
Cookies
This website does not set cookies and does not store anything on your device.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we're using it. Email hello@sotheon.co.uk and we'll respond within one month.
If you're not happy with how we've handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
